CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 9, 2014--
CBIZ, Inc. (NYSE: CBZ), one of the nation’s largest providers of
employee benefits and insurance advisory services, announces today the
appointment of Jim O’Connor as National Practice Leader for Employee
Benefits.
O’Connor rises to his new role after serving as Managing Director and
Executive Vice President of CBIZ’s New Jersey and New York employee
benefits practice. In his new role, he will focus his responsibilities
on the continued growth and development of the employee benefits unit
across the country.
His predecessor, Bonnie Evelyn, has resigned from the post, effective
July 1, but will continue working with CBIZ as an independent
consultant. Under Evelyn’s leadership, CBIZ achieved great success in
the employee benefits services division, growing revenue over 15 percent
during recent years in an unstable economic and industry environment.
“Bonnie has done a tremendous job successfully leading us during one of
the most tumultuous times in our industry,” says O’Connor. “It is now
our opportunity to take what we have built and continue our development
as the preeminent middle-market employee benefits services provider in
the country.”
With over 25 years in the employee benefits industry, O’Connor has a
depth of valuable experience serving numerous middle-market and large
corporate employers, foundations and non-profit organizations. Prior to
forming EAO Benefits in 2004 and joining CBIZ via acquisition in 2009,
O’Connor served as Executive Vice President of Bank of America’s
employee benefits and commercial insurance division and President of
Meeker Sharkey Benefits, an employee benefits brokerage/consulting firm
focused on middle-market and large employers.
Rob O’Byrne, President of CBIZ Employee Services, states that O’Connor’s
experience in the employee benefits and insurance industry will be a
positive addition in his new role within the CBIZ team. “We are grateful
for Bonnie’s valuable contributions as National Practice Leader of
Employee Benefits,” O’Byrne says. “We feel that we have accomplished a
great deal in the employee benefits space. We look forward to continuing
the momentum we have seen over the past few years under the new
management of Jim O’Connor and our strategic plans for growth and deeper
penetration in the markets we serve.”
O’Connor will retain many of his client engagement responsibilities
while taking over larger responsibilities centered on maintaining the
growth momentum of his predecessor. “We are in a time of transformation
in the industry,” says O’Connor. “I have never been more excited about
capitalizing on the changing world of employee benefits than I am right
now.”
